Terrapin Ridge Productions LLC was incorporated in the state of Illinois, for the purpose of staging large and small-scale events from concerts to music and art festivals throughout the Midwest Region. The first festival produced was Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival in September 2014.
Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival is a multi-day camping event that features four distinct components: Feel-Good Music, Performance Art, Visual Art and the Sanctuary- plus an eclectic variety of activities and attractions targeted to our demographic of 18-44 year-old music and art lovers.
The inaugural festival in 2014 successfully established our vision of a transformational festival in the heart of the Midwest. It attracted a core fan base that has given the event rave reviews, substantial word of mouth praise, and a level of creditability and interest that has far exceeded the average first year festival.

Phases of the Moon Music & Arts Festival will be held at the beautiful 3000 acre Kennekuk County Park in Danville, IL. The site itself, with its historic collection of turn-of-the-century buildings, prairie lands, lakes and meandering streams, give one the feeling of small town America. This is your invitation! Hang with us for four days of 100% organic, guaranteed feel good music, performed by nationally renowned musicians on 4 unique outdoor stages.
Kennekuk County Park provided an excellent natural setting with room to grow as the event matures. The 3,000 acre park, located five miles from Danville, IL and within a 250-mile radius of Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville and St. Louis is the ideal location to draw festival goers from around the Midwest and the 20 major college markets in the region. Based on survey and experience, Kennekuk County Park can comfortably accommodate up to 25,000 festival-goers, with the opportunity to utilize nearby remote camping locations as well. The event has a five- year annual lease (through 2020) with Vermilion County and enjoys a solid relationship and support from the park, the County Sheriff, the Mayor of
Danville as well as State Representative Chad Hays, all involved in the 2014 event.

Barry (my father) and I started Terrapin Ridge Productions LLC and Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival early in 2014. Centrally located in Kennekuk County Park, Danville,IL. Our inaugural year (Videos Attached) 2014 (7,500 paid, 10,000 total per day) was a wonderful artistic success, full of incredible art at every turn, local and national food/craft vendors and out of this world performances from mega artist in the Jam, Funk, Soul, Rock genres. Unfortunately it was also a bit of a financial disaster. Everything from monsoon rains, significant cost overruns and operational issues (not having the right individual in command) overwhelmed our financial capacity to bring Phases back to Danville in 2015. Pipeline Productions (well known, well respected production company out of Arkansas) had seen what we accomplished in 2014 and offered us an opportunity to allow Phases to continue, by merging with their existing event Harvest Music Festival, while retaining the Phases name and moving to AR. (50/50 split)
The merging of Phases and Harvest Festival was thought to bring together the feel good music, awe-inspiring art, the Sanctuary and the magical feel of Phases 2014 with the beloved, iconic, family friendly, bluegrass festival of Harvest in the beautiful setting of Mulberry Mountain, Ozark, Arkansas.
Sounds good on paper...
(Issue 1)
However, we underestimated how much the Phases festival-goers loved the Danville, IL. site and the community we created around it. They may have felt we were abandoning them for 'greener pastures' so to speak. The Harvest festival-goers may have felt we were northern invaders encroaching on their long-time loved festival and felt we would change the feel and dynamics of their festival. We feel this was the results of our low tickets sales.
(Issue2) (bigger issue)
Unfortunately, due to a significant number of unforeseen obstacles and compounding problems incurred by Pipeline Productions leading up to the 2015 event, we were left with no choice but to cancel.
Future
Since canceling Phases 15' we (Terrapin Ridge Productions) have taken back the Phases of the Moon name and Terrapin Ridge Productions has acted with integrity and good faith throughout the whole process and has fulfilled its financial obligations to Phases 2015. We fell that there is still a strong base of support from festival goers to bring back Phases to IL and grow it into one of the best national festivals. Given the chance...
Fest 300 included us in there 2014/2015 top festivals. (Phases was #14)
As it currently stands
we (Terrapin Ridge Productions) have a great relationships with the Danville Community leaders, Park Management, Local Legislators and State Representatives (Rep.Chad Hays opened up the festival with his band, Boat Drink Caucus). They loved the events vibe and appreciated the culture we brought together.
They are excited about the prospect of Phases returning and they are ready to help in anyway. There are infrastructure needs such as expanding the main road leading into the park and an additional entrance that needs to be created but the park is financially ready to do so. Thepark is massive with room to camp 40-50k people if it ever came to it. Full of turn of the century buildings such as a train station, dinning rail cart, church, general store, two story red barn, barber shop, printing press shop and more..

Phases of the Moon Music + Art Festival will now take place October 16-18, 2015 at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, AR - the current location of Harvest Festival and Wakarusa. We have joined forces with Pipeline Productions to merge Phases with Harvest Fest and co-produce the event moving forward. The combined event will be called Phases of the Moon Music + Art Festival and will retain its emphasis on feel-good music, awe-inspiring artwork, and a transformative festival experience.
We believe that working with Pipeline's fantastic staff and the time tested location of Mulberry Mountain will give us the best opportunity to create a sustainable fall camping festival that we all can enjoy for years to come.
Please know that this decision was bittersweet - We are forever grateful for the passionate and integral support we received from the Danville community in our inaugural year. We have to stay true to our vision and look towards the long-term viability of the fest. We sincerely hope our midwest family will join us at this beautiful new site. It's gonna be worth it.
Sincerely,
Sam Shear & The Phases Team

Dear Phases of the Moon Community ,
It saddens us to inform you that Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival 2015 was canceled.
We were very excited to have had the opportunity to continue the Phases adventure in Arkansas this year and merge with Harvest Festival.
Unfortunately, due to a significant number of unforeseen obstacles and compounding issues, including the continued closure of one of the main road leading into the festival site, we were left with no choice but to cancel the event. The Phases cancellation has nothing to do with Harvest Festival, Yonder Mountain Sting Band, or any of the other bands for that matter.
As heartbreaking as the decision was, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone including YOU the festival goer that we cancel this years event. We may have only spent one life changing year together filled with feel good music, awe inspiring artwork, joy and celebration all in a transformative festival experience but those memories will always live on .
We apologize sincerely for this inconvenience and hope to see all of you at great live music and events in the near future.
A separate notice will be sent to ticket holders concerning refunds.
Thank you for your love and support.
Sincerely,
Sam Shear & the Phases Team
